Health Initiatives at WillWay Africa

Our health initiative empowers children and young people in the rural setting with the relevant skill, tool and information to live a healthy and productive life. WillWay prioritizes HIV & AIDS interventions targeted at marginalized population in addition to adolescent health programs.

Operation ReachOut HIV & AIDS Programme

Young people account for 40% of all new HIV infections. Each day, more than 2,400 young people become infected with HIV - and some five million young people aged 15-24 are living with HIV.

Most people who are vulnerable to HIV&AIDS in Africa are lacking in formal education, and have limited access to hospitals and clinics. WillWay Africa brings significant experience in implementing large-scale programs in underserved rural communities, helping to expand access to quality HIV and AIDS services and networks. Our innovative programs utilizes youth-friendly interventions in ensuring that the education, information, tools and services provided empower young people in making healthy decisions and enable them to adopt protective practices.

Baseline survey/needs assessment is conducted before planning/implementation of every new project to ensure optimized project outcome.  Operation ReachOut projects responds to the needs of vulnerable children and youth particularly including In-School and Out-of-School; Transgender, Youth Living with HIV & AIDS, Youth in prison among others.

Adolescent Health

Adolescence is a strategic period during the life course to emphasize empowerment and preventive approaches that would enable adolescents to survive, thrive, and transform their societies. WillWay provides opportunities to ensure that adolescents progressively develop the knowledge, skills, social and economic assets, and resilience needed for a healthy, productive, and fulfilling life.

Our Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health (ASRH) initiatives employs evidence-based interventions designed to suit local social and cultural norms. The main objective of the ASRH is to contribute to improvement of sexual and reproductive health status of adolescents and their general wellbeing.

Specific objectives are to:

  • Addressing the Sexual and Reproductive Health Needs of Very Young Adolescents
  • Delaying Pregnancy through Access to Comprehensive Sexuality Education and Contraception
  • Improving Outcomes for Young Mothers and Delaying Second Pregnancies
  • Increasing Access and Quality of Sexual and Reproductive Health Services through Youth Participation
